Apr 10-16, 2017 (Ky on Apr 14th)  “Riverboat Series” at Columbus-Belmont State Park, Run/Walk Through LA-AR-MS-TN-KY-MO-IL. USA Track & Field Sanctioned Event starting at Columbus-Belmont State Park, 7 Days – 7 States – Marathons/Half-Marathons. Start Times: 7 am every day. This will be at first light and, as a result, there will be no early starts. No dogs to accompany runners.  Each participant will receive a separate medal for each day, one cotton t-shirt, and other good stuff. Special medals to those who complete all five. COURSE: two loops totaling 2.184 miles, south loop (1.445 miles) is paved with views of the Mississippi River, north loop on dirt and grass through Civil War Earthworks. Apr 15, 2017,  9:00 a.m.-12: noon, Civil War Trust Park Clean Up Day, Columbus-Belmont State Park, 350 Park Road, Columbus, KY  42032, History Buffs and preservationists from around the country will team up with Civil War Trust, to help clean and restore America’s priceless battlefields, cemeteries and shrines.  The nationwide effort –dubbed Park Day – is underwritten with a grant from History Channel and endorsed by Take Pride in America, a division of the U.S. Dept. of the Interior. Over 100 sites in 25 states are expected to take part in the effort with activities ranging from trash removal to trail building or planting flowers.  In exchange for their hard work, volunteers receive t-shirts, lite lunch, and learn the site’s history from local experts.  At Columbus-Belmont State Park volunteers are needed to PLANT FLOWERS, PICK UP STICKS, LIMBS, TRASH, and WORK IN TRAILS.  Bring gloves, rakes, and brooms.Call park office for more information 270-677-2327 or email cindy.lynch@ky.gov

May 27, 2017  Ballard County Wheels and Wings, 6th Annual bicycle tour starting at Ballard County Preschool, 455 Olive St., LaCenter, KY, Rain or shine!, Choice of 15-, 30- and 60-mile routes. Routes: The tour starts at Ballard County Preschool in LaCenter. The 30-mile route goes through Oscar, Monkey’s Eyebrow, Bandana and back to LaCenter. The 60-mile route goes south of U.S. 60 and west to Wickliffe, before turning north to Barlow, farther north to Monkey’s Eyebrow, then going on into McCracken County to the Heath area before returning to Bandana/LaCenter. There are wide expanses of almost-empty state roads bordered by green fields and pastures, small lakes, and some of the largest cypress tree stands in Western Kentucky. With luck, you might even see one of our bald eagles! The 15- and 30-mile routes are mostly flat. Even beginners can complete them. The 60-mile route is more challenging, with a series of rolling hills in the first 20 miles. Lines of sight are long, and traffic is light on all routes.  Family-friendly! Children 12 and under ride for free with a registered adult. Required: All riders must wear helmets and obey traffic laws. Start and finish at Ballard County Preschool, 455 Olive St., LaCenter. NTD features a series of outdoor activities designed to promote and celebrate the importance of trails in the United States.  Individuals, clubs, and organizations from around the country host National Trails Day events to share their love of trails with friends, family and their communities. June 10-17, 2017 (14-16th in Hickman, KY), Ride the Fault Line Bicycling Touring arriving for two nights in Hickman, KY. Seven day supported bike tour through Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Registration begins in December 2013www.ridethefault.com; A ride through the heart of the central United States, visiting portions of Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Cross the mighty Mississippi River on one of the last remaining riverboat ferries. Experience the history and see landforms created by the Great New Madrid Earthquakes of 1811-1812. Tour a Civil War era mansion and museum, visit a restored early 1900’s one-room schoolhouse and the residence/studio where Ernest Hemingway wrote “A Farewell to Arms”. Average 60 miles a day riding on some of the flattest terrain anywhere! And for those cyclists for whom no ride is complete without some elevation gains, there will be optional hilly routes offered. Products created by many artisans living all across Kentucky, including crafts, paintings and photographs, jewelry, music recordings, literary arts & publications, specialty food products, book authors, Musical entertainment.  Soup and sandwiches available and gift wrapping provided by the Hickman County Junior High Beta. Nov 25 – Jan 1, 2017,  Life Size Christmas Cards Visit #ClintonKY and #FultonKY and #HickmanKY to view lighted Christmas Cards in historic towns found in the KY Great River Road National Scenic Byway

Dec 2, 2017, 10:am Arlington Christmas Parade, Hwy 51, Arlington, KY, Celebrate Christmas and ‪#‎smalltown expecting several floats, tractors, ‪#‎ATVs, horses, pets, old and new cars, the ‪#‎Shriners, the Four Rivers Corvette Club, the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle group, and of course Santa and Ms. Claus. Honoring our law enforcement and ‪#‎veterans and remembering our fallen heroes. The Carlisle County School choir along with some teachers will be entertaining with Christmas Carols while the parade makes it way around the block.
